Ridgefield, New Jersey
One family, one yard, since 1957
Anthony Adamo started this company as a mason contractor in 1957. His sons, Al and John Adamo, have managed it since 1987 and still run it from the yard at 1033 Alexander Avenue in Ridgefield.
From a mason contractor to a general contractor
The company began doing masonry, and masonry is still the trade at the centre of it. What changed over the decades is how much of the job around the stone we do ourselves. Under Al and John it grew into general contracting, demolition and site contracting, so that the clearing, the grading, the drainage, the concrete and the finished face could all come from one company.
That is not expansion for its own sake. On almost every job the expensive problems happen at the joins between trades, where one contractor’s work meets another’s and neither is quite responsible for the level in between. Owning the ground work and the masonry removes that join.
Today the work runs from small family homes through to larger commercial and municipal contracts, public and private, across Bergen, Hudson, Passaic and Essex Counties. The park installations in our gallery and the stone entries on Bergen County houses are built by the same crews to the same standard.
The people who show up
Our staff of project managers, estimators, operators and labourers has been with us for over twenty years. In this trade that length of service is the whole quality control system. Reading ground correctly, judging a base, running a machine cleanly in a tight space between two houses: none of that is written down anywhere. It is carried by people who have done it for two decades on the same kind of ground.
We are fully licensed, bonded and insured, and hold New Jersey Home Improvement Contractor licence #13VH00015800 through the New Jersey Home Builders Association.
